Emotion & Explosion

navigating feelings and tantrums – in toddlers and ourselves

You swore you’d stay calm this time.

But then your toddler started screaming...

your chest tightened, and before you knew it...

you were shouting too.

You love your child more than anything, but sometimes it feels impossible to stay steady when they lose it.

You end up exhausted, ashamed, and wondering: why can’t I handle this better?

You’re not broken. And neither is your child.

You’re both learning something no one ever really taught us--how to feel.

the problem isn't that your toddler feels too much

The problem is: WE didn’t learn how to process emotions when we were toddlers, ourselves.

When we were little, feelings were often treated like problems to fix: too loud, too messy, too much.

So we practiced hiding them, rushing them, or shuttting them down entirely.

And now here we are, raising toddlers who feel EVERYTHING, and suddenly we’re face-to-face with what we were never taught.

It’s not just their yelling on the floor. It’s our own pulse quickening, our throat tightening, that inner voice whispering, “I can’t do this again.”

That’s what this workshop is about--learning to work with emotions, not against them. To process what we feel, and help children do the same.

I’m Layne, and I'm here to help.

I’ve spent more than a decade working with toddlers and families--often 12 two-year-olds at once, which should probably count as a degree in emotional regulation.

I know what it feels like to lose your cool and think, “If I can’t even regulate myself, how can I help this kid do it?”

Here’s the thing: emotional intelligence isn’t a skill we teach toddlers like letters and numbers.

It’s something we practice--together.

When we learn to process our own emotions, we naturally show children how to do the same.

"Layne's experience and expertise has completely shifted my mindset around toddlerhood and allowed me to feel more empowered and validated as a mom. Working with her is filled with encouragement, accountability, and real life tips that actually work with little kids!"

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

This 90-minute live workshop, is filled with deep understanding and practical tools that bring immediate relief.

We’ll cover:

  • What’s actually happening when a toddler (or adult) “loses it”, neurologically, emotionally, and relationally

  • Exactly what to do before, during, and after a tantrum

  • How to keep your own cool when their emotions run high

  • What “processing a feeling” really means, for you and your child

  • Simple ways to teach emotional intelligence day-to-day

You’ll leave knowing what’s happening in your child’s brain, and in your own--and what to do in real time to turn those intense moments into calmer, more connected ones.

"I feel less alone, more confident, more capable. Validation that there isn't something wrong with me or my kid; this is normal (and healthy) toddler behavior. Layne makes this not only understandable but lays out actionable scenarios. It’s helpful, healing, and so important."
